    It's nearly 2017 and I'm reviewing Forth code.  Wow.
    

    To the degree I remember any of the little I knew about Forth, this seems good.  It would perhaps be nicer if the formal parameter names matched their description in the comment.

      huh, yes, somehow in my mind is the comment sequence backslash with space. I need to train my mind some...
      

      replaced the parameter names. Well, to be exact, forth words do not have parameters, its all the stack, but the { | -- } construct is mimicing
      
the parameters (and locals) list... and in case anyone is wondering, the right side of -- is just comment denoting the stack state on exit.
