  2. This isn't nice -- you can't go back via pkg update to a build that has lower version; I always find it annoying with zoneinfo, now it will be hwdata as well.

    1. Ok, undone. I had forgotten how restrictive the default osnet consolidation is.

    2. If the Yuri's concern is just it being locked by the incorporation, why don't we just remove the data packages from the incorporation?

If the concern is you have to specify the version when downgrading a package, I don't understand it.

    3. As far as I understand it, the point of the osnet incorporation is to lock everything together. If the version remains at 0.5.11, then it's possible to downgrade to an earlier version in the case of problems.

I think that for this change I should just leave the version untouched as we have done for these updates in the past. In the longer term, perhaps we should add version-lock facets to the incorporation?

    4. No, the point of the incorporation is to lock together those bits that need it. When we switched ON to IPS we did this the easy way -- we locked the whole thing together. There is nothing at all wrong with removing packages from it which do not need it.

If you want to use the facet for that, that's fine, but not particularly necessary.
We can't add version-lock to things that very much do need to be locked together though, so the logic about whether it can be done would be the same.
